I’m Art Kay, a backend engineer in Brooklyn, NY. I’ve been writing software for 25 years - these days mostly in Elixir and Go, with a good stretch of Python and a lot of Terraform along the way.

I’m currently a backend engineer at iCapital, where I work on the identity, onboarding, and investor-accreditation systems that came over with the acquisition of Parallel Markets in early 2025. I was Parallel Markets’ first employee and spent five years there building its identity verification (KYC/AML), accreditation, and partner-data platforms - from prototype to production, through the exit.
