I’m Art Kay, a backend engineer in Brooklyn, NY. I’ve been writing software
for 25 years - these days mostly in Elixir and Go, with a good stretch of
Python and a lot of Terraform along the way.

I’m currently a backend engineer at

where I work on the identity, onboarding, and investor-accreditation systems
that came over with the acquisition of

in early 2025. I was Parallel Markets’ first employee and spent five years
there building its identity verification (KYC/AML), accreditation, and
partner-data platforms - from prototype to production, through the exit.

Elixir libraries

ex_aws_kms - ExAws service package
for AWS KMS; 1.2M+ downloads on Hex.

fakerer - Faker than Faker: a
maintained, drop-in-compatible fork of Elixir’s Faker library.

unreadherring.com

A local-first Elixir/LiveView tool that draws a sunburst of your Gmail
clutter and lets you cut it down. Nothing leaves your machine.

amionline.net

A deliberately boring plain-HTTP page whose only job is to trigger captive
Wi-Fi portals when nothing else will.

yellingatthe.cloud

A status page for the cloud services I depend on. When something is down, an
old man yells at a cloud; when everything is fine, he sleeps. One HTML file.
